KCMO to settle lawsuit involving Brookside intersection. The city has agreed to pay more than $300,000 to a man who was hit by a car at a Brookside intersection in 2016. His attorney, Mr. Gorny, said Wednesday the lawsuit wasn’t about the money. They wanted the city to make the area safer. The Gorny Law Firm settled a lawsuit against The City of Kansas City as the result of a dangerous intersection in Brookside, Missouri. The firm’s clients were deserving of the result. But, perhaps the most rewarding outcome of the case was a new pedestrian safety signal being installed at the intersection to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
During the last four weeks, Steve Gorny, President of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys has testified against eight bills in Jefferson City. Each is aimed at limiting Missourians’ access to fair justice. All of us at the firm believe in the 7th Amendment to The United States Constitution and stand against legislators trying to deny an injured person their day in Court.

Steve Gorny volunteers at Harvesters Food Bank in Kansas City and presents them with a $5,000 check from Missouri Trial Lawyers Care (MoTLC) to cover 15,000 meals. This donation is designed to kick off a challenge between members of the plaintiff’s bar and defense bar to raise money and products for the needy.
Steve is the chairman of the Missouri Trial Lawyers Care, the charitable arm of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorney and he is thrilled to be involved in helping this wonderful organization. Harvesters provide food and related household products to more than 620 non-for-profit agencies including emergency food pantries, community kitchens, homeless shelters, children’s homes and others in 26 counties throughout northeastern Kansas and northwestern Missouri.
